Who Is Responsible For This?

This is a video post. I have two videos for you to watch.

You can watch them in any order. If you are a cat person, you might enjoy watching mine first.

If you are a dog person, perhaps you might want to start off with viewing that one first.

Some of you may have already seen the dog video. It was circulating on Facebook. I thought it was extremely entertaining, and it is what gave me the idea to do my video.

Enjoy, and hope these help to brighten your day.

Warning, the first video contains pictures of some hideous green carpet that desperately need to be replaced!

Tatee, Mama's Lil' Elf!

Sometime in early December 2010 at the Open A Bar 2 Ranch...

Country Chicken Girl (CCG): Tatee, look what mama bought for you!

Tatee: What is it? Let me see, let me see, let me see! I hope it is something good to eat!

CCG: Look, it's a cute little doggie outfit I got at Target for only $2.50! You'll look adorable in it. I got a large, hope you fit into it.

Tatee: Are you serious? You spent money on that hideous thing? You aren't getting that on me in a million years. I'll scratch your eyes out.

A couple of minutes later, the CCG adorned her beloved Tatee with his new Christmas outfit and outside they went to take some cute pictures! Tatee is such a good kitty and loves the CCG so much that he didn't put up too much of a fight putting on the little elf outfit.

Tatee: I'll pose for a few pictures, but I won't like it. AND I won't smile.

CCG: Oh Tatee, you look soooooooo cute! What a good boy you are. Let's try a few with you and me. Dan the Man will take them for us.

Tatee: If Dan was a real Man, he would save me from this humiliating situation!

Dan the Man: Sorry Tatee, but you know if mama doesn't get her way and ain't happy, then NO body's happy. Just suck it up and it will all be over in a flash.

CCG: Now smile Tatee!

CCG: That's a pretty good one.

CCG: Oh Tatee, you are beautiful!

CCG: Let's try some silly ones!

Tatee: The first chance I get I'm bolting!

Tatee: That's it, I'm done!

How Cats Drink, at least... How Bridgette Drinks

Bridgette can be a silly kitty.

Not quite sure why the water taste better drinking it in this position,
but Bridgette seems to think so.

Or maybe the water goes down easier?

I really don't know. If cat's could only talk to their humans in English.

A Bird in the Hand is Better Than Two in the Bush

One of my cats, Squeakers, is the worlds best bird hunter. I hate to think about how many birds lose their lives prematurely because of this keen hunting machine. Squeaks is the smallest of all our cats and the most agile. She loves to share her "catches" with us and is constantly bringing LIVE birds into the house through the dog door. Upon entering the house she releases the birds and they fly around and she chases them until Dan the Man or myself finally catch them and release them back outdoors.

This little guy was Squeakers catch of the day this morning. After I caught him and photographed him, he flew away unharmed. I'm sure he flew far, far away, hoping to never have to go though that ordeal again!

Click on the photo for a full screen view, the details are incredible, especially his feathers. And see the little twinkle in his eye, that's not post processed in by the way. Click on your browsers back button to return to the blog.

Holding the little guy in my hand made me think of the saying "A Bird in the Hand is Better Than Two in the Bush."

So I googled the phrase and found this at WiseGeek.com. Thought it was interesting and wanted to share it with you.

According to WiseGeek.com:

“A bird in the hand is worth two in the bush,” also sometimes given as, “A bird in the hand is better than two in the bush,” is a proverb saying that it is better to stick with something you already have, rather than pursuing something you may never get. This proverb is a very popular warning, widely used in many English-speaking countries.

The basic warning of “A bird in the hand is worth two in the bush,” is that you must take care not to get too greedy in life. If you are holding a bird in the hand, you have your meal for the evening. You can take that one bird, and be well fed. If instead you let it go to pursue two birds you’ve spied in a bush, you may catch neither, and wind up hungry for the night. This proverb points out that by passing up a sure thing for a more promising possibility, you also run the risk of losing both the sure thing and the promising possibility.

Camille and her Blankey

Camille loves her blankey.

But then, who doesn't love to cuddle in a warm soft blanket?

The only thing that feels better is a hug from your mother!

All together now... say "awww, she's so cute!"

The End.

Cat Photo Contest, Boo-hoo!

Well, I've waited anxiously all week for the semi-finalist to be announced for the cat photo contest that I entered. A group was announced on each day of this week, Monday-Friday. Every morning I would run to my computer and check to see if I had made the semi's. Most mornings the semi's weren't posted yet, so I would have to check back every hour to see if one of my beautiful kitties would make the cut. Each day I would check, giddy with anticipation and each day my heart was crushed into the chicken coop poopy litter with disappointment, because my kitties were not getting the respect that I think is due to them!

Now that the last group has been announced I have come to terms with the fact that I am a loser, I feel a great sense of relief. I can move on with my life and stop centering it around this stupid cat photo contest! Me and my kitties are moving forward, upward, onward...

If you want to see the photos that were chosen for the semi-finals here are the links:

I might post links to the finalist and the winners when they are announced and I might not. Like I said it's time to move on and post a chicken recipe or a yummy dessert recipe or talk about how bad the food you are eating is (you know, that gross, bad, disgusting chicken and beef you get from the store) or go harass the cows or maybe take more pictures of my kitties...

I don't know...

what to do, what to do???

Anyway, I'm over it, I think!

Don't have pity for me, my friends! I really am not bitter or full of sour grapes over this. If you don't know me, I do tend to have a dry sense of humor!

Don't tell me we have to take more pictures?!

Hoar Frost by Gosh!

Note: Please enjoy the photos more by clicking on them. This will bring a full screen view of them. Just hit your browser's back button to return to the blog.

Just another day in the life of a Country Chicken Girl...

Hoarfrost: According to Wikipedia

"Radiation frost (also called hoar frost or hoarfrost) refers to the white ice crystals, loosely deposited on the ground or exposed objects, that form on cold clear nights when heat losses into the open skies cause objects to become colder than the surrounding air. A related effect is flood frost which occurs when air cooled by ground-level radiation losses travels downhill to form pockets of very cold air in depressions, valleys, and hollows. Hoar frost can form in these areas even when the air temperature a few feet above ground is well above freezing. Nonetheless the frost itself will be at or below the freezing temperature of water.
"

I must say that frozen winter mornings as these posses a beauty like no other.

The stillness in the air is like no other silence I know.

The hoar frost is so delicately formed that if you barely brush against it,
it is destroyed and gone like a dying man's last breath of air.

The crunch of the snow beneath your boots sounds like it is amplified 100 times because of the stillness in the air.

The solitude that I feel in this frozen winter scene causes me to think of
my Creator and the beauty of His world around me.

I am thankful and feel so truly blessed to be a part of His world.

Camille was my willing sidekick today. Nice posing Millie!

I've said it before and I'll say it again...

One day in the country is worth a month in town!

Thank you Lord for this life.

The End
