I Love Hoar Frost!

What an enchanting morning here at the Open A Bar 2 Ranch! Mornings like this make me truly appreciate God's wondrous power. I am blown away at the beauty He creates for His people. But in order to see it, you have to be searching, looking, studying, waiting and expecting. If you were just out this morning not looking carefully for God's handiwork, you would have missed it. If you are going through life not looking for God's beauty to appear in your life, you are going to miss it.

Winter Wonderland

Delaney Butte view from Harvat's place.
I love the vast expanse of wide open land which looks like a sea of snow.

The cabin is truly a winter wonderland. Here are some photos I got over Christmas one day when Erin and I decided to take a walk. The weather was perfect. The air was cold on our faces and frigid and fresh in my lungs. The smell of the pine trees was intoxicating. The sun glistening on the snow was magical. The frost in the trees was enchanting. And the time I got to spend chatting with Erin was truly a memory that I will treasure. We talked about various things, life, our shared belief in God, our family, coffee, etc. We took about a four mile walk through the snow laden path down to Unlce Albert's old place. Erin is a lovely young woman with a passion for God. Spending time with her edifies me in my walk with the Lord. Love you Erin!

PS Izzy went on the walk with us too, but you've already seen the pictures of her. If you haven't, the pictures are in the preceding post.

Remember that you can click on each individual picture for a full screen view of it. These are absolutely beautiful if you click on them. Hit your browser's back button to return to the blog.

I wanted Izzy to stand where the now meets the sky in this picture,
but she wouldn't! Sure would have made a neat picture
if we could have convinced her to do it!
The snow was glistening as if God had dumped an enormous
bottle of glitter down from heaven.

The mountain range to the east of North Park.
Sorry I don't know what it is called.
I think it is either the Medicine Bow Mountains
or the Never Summer Mountains.

The sun shining through the frosty tips of the aspen trees.
Breath-taking in person.

Izzy, One Beautiful Pup!

I am so far behind on the things I would like to blog about, it's not even funny. I don't really know why I haven't been blogging. I have more time during the winter than I do in the summer, but it seems like I have been extremely busy this winter. I think perhaps the winter farmers market is zapping some of my free time away from me.

One thing I want to blog about is Christmas 2010 at the cabin. It was memorable, as usual, and I have some things to report about it. Those of you who were there, know that I need to do some select editing before I share all the stories of what happened. That seems to be taking me a little time to accomplish.

But one thing I can share and probably the most beautiful thing is Dan the Man's nephew's dog, Izzy. Thomas got Izzy I think 10 months ago. She is absolutely breathtaking.

I don't know how to accurately describe Izzy's beauty to you. She is as beautiful as the snow is white. She is as gentle as a snowflake falling softly to the earth below. Her blazing blue eyes take your breath away just as the coldness of a winter day does.

I'll let the pictures describe her in more detail for you. Remember to enjoy them even more, click on the picture to see a full screen view and hit your browser's back button to return to the blog.

Just Incase I Fall Asleep...

Dear Dan the Man,

I wanted to let you know every single day (or night as it maybe) that I love you. I read somewhere that you should tell your husband every night before bedtime that you love them. Well, you know how I am... If I don't tell you at supper time that you are the love of my life, I might not get to tell you that night, especially since I almost always fall asleep before you. I tell my friends that I usually go to bed around 9 pm, but you know that I actually fall asleep on the couch sometime around 8'ish. I stumble to the bed with my half open eyes around 9'ish.

If you would please look at the wall space above the bed each night before you turn off the lights, I will feel like I have told you just how much you mean to me.

That is all,
Your loving Wife,
The Country Chicken Girl

PS Wish I would have known the second line was in gold lettering and not black. Black would have shown up a lot better. Maybe I will outline that second line in black. What do you think?

PSS, You can click on the pictures if you want to see a full screen version of them. Just remember to hit your browser's back button to return to the blog.

Who's the Slacker?

Okay ladies...

Who is the slacker?

Who is laying eggs the size of malted milk balls?

Seriously...

I know it's been cold, but come on, you have the Taj Mahal when it comes to chicken coops. Dan the Man built your exquisite coop with love and so many amenities (beautiful sliding glass windows, completely insulated, an electric wall heater, a light set on a timer so you get the proper amount of light each day, nesting boxes filled with fresh litter on a regular basis, the most expensive waterer and feeder, custom roosts that I personally constructed with my own two hands from real branches...)

So don't go telling me that it is too cold to lay a normal sized egg.

I'm not buying that lame excuse.

What more do you need?

Really...

Tatee, Mama's Lil' Elf!

Sometime in early December 2010 at the Open A Bar 2 Ranch...

Country Chicken Girl (CCG): Tatee, look what mama bought for you!

Tatee: What is it? Let me see, let me see, let me see! I hope it is something good to eat!

CCG: Look, it's a cute little doggie outfit I got at Target for only $2.50! You'll look adorable in it. I got a large, hope you fit into it.

Tatee: Are you serious? You spent money on that hideous thing? You aren't getting that on me in a million years. I'll scratch your eyes out.

A couple of minutes later, the CCG adorned her beloved Tatee with his new Christmas outfit and outside they went to take some cute pictures! Tatee is such a good kitty and loves the CCG so much that he didn't put up too much of a fight putting on the little elf outfit.

Tatee: I'll pose for a few pictures, but I won't like it. AND I won't smile.

CCG: Oh Tatee, you look soooooooo cute! What a good boy you are. Let's try a few with you and me. Dan the Man will take them for us.

Tatee: If Dan was a real Man, he would save me from this humiliating situation!

Dan the Man: Sorry Tatee, but you know if mama doesn't get her way and ain't happy, then NO body's happy. Just suck it up and it will all be over in a flash.

CCG: Now smile Tatee!

CCG: That's a pretty good one.

CCG: Oh Tatee, you are beautiful!

CCG: Let's try some silly ones!

Tatee: The first chance I get I'm bolting!

Tatee: That's it, I'm done!

THE END

How Cats Drink, at least... How Bridgette Drinks

Bridgette can be a silly kitty.

Not quite sure why the water taste better drinking it in this position,
but Bridgette seems to think so.

Or maybe the water goes down easier?

I really don't know. If cat's could only talk to their humans in English.
